查勞工作業環境監測實施辦法第2條所稱作業時間短暫，係指雇主使勞工每日作業時間在1小時以內者，及同辦法第8條規定之作業場所，雇主應依所定期程實施作業環境監測；如屬臨時性作業、作業時間短暫或作業期間短暫，且勞工不致暴露於超出勞工作業場所容許暴露標準所列有害物之短時間時量平均容許濃度，或最高容許濃度之虞者，得不受規定期程之限制。爰此，如作業情形符合上開規定之作業時間短暫，且經確認勞工不致暴露於超出勞工作業場所容許暴露標準之規定，得不受所規定監測期程之限制。惟於引進或修改製程、作業程序、材料及設備時，應重新評估其勞工暴露之風險，有增加暴露風險之虞者，依同辦法第9條規定，應即實施作業環境監測，以避免因操作程序或作業條件改變，使勞工暴露於有害作業環境。
又作業時間不固定，但仍須每日施作者，若該作業時間有超過1小時之情形，則非屬前開規定之作業時間短暫，仍應依同辦法第8條規定，辦理作業環境監測。
